Hi,
I am failing to update Gigabyte 5700 XT. The same procedure updates the BIOS on MSI cards with no problem. I follow the instructions on Igors Lab.

The sign of having trouble with the card bios flash shows in GPU-Z. After flash using amdvbflash the values of GPU and memory frequencies is empty. With stock bios there are Mhz frequencies.

Is there any known problems with flashing Gigabyte cards?
Any suggestions on what other forums I may ask for assistance?
Is it possible that the OEM bios is signed, and any modified bios will be rejected?
If the bios is signed, any tools to resign, or would I need to buy a card from a different vendor?

Thanks,

Alley Cat

hi
i have a Gigabyte RX5700xt Gaming OC 8GB (Rev 2.0)
i used all available bios including the one that @Mini_Me suggested but still i got error
the problem is there is no bios for Rev2 in gigabyte website, i even saved the stock bios using unlockram command and try to edit
but still same problem
i appreciate any help or advice @Mini_Me
have a good day
Hi and welcome,

Please use the appropriate vbios file for your card from the kindly attached link below,

Hi I have the Gigabyte Aorus 5700 Xt Rev 2.0 and when i save the bios via amdvbflash 293 or 3.904+ and try and update straps in red bios editor it works fine. I then save the new modified bios and try and flash the bios with this and this goes well too. I have Samsung memory. I reboot the machine and the drivers dont work and i get erro 43 in the driver in devices page on windows 10. I have triied every bios i can find and the only one that will flash ok it the original one i saved. What is going on and what can i do please ???
Hi and welcome,

Please follow the guide in the kindly attached link below,

Greetings,

Please follow the guide below,

The below is the settings for best performance and power consumption for safe 24/7 operating and work well with TeamRedMiner Mode B,

÷ Using MorePowerTool from the kindly attached link below,

Apply the setting below,

- Under Features tab, set:
Zero RPM: Uncheck (Disable, for those who have high memory temperature)

- Under Overdrive Limits tab, set:
GFX Maximum Clock 1440 MHz
Memory Maximum Clock 960 MHz
Power Limit Maximum 0%
Power Limit Minimum 0%
Memory Timing Control: 1 [For computing (mining), default is 2 for gaming]
Zero RPM Control: 0 (For those who have high memory temperature)

- Under Feature Control (For stable Hashrate and to prevent hashrate from dropping to 0 MH/s in addition to disable R6 Render Standby in the motherboard bios settings if exists), set:
DS_GFXCLK: Uncheck (Disable)
ACDC: Check (Enable for non XT cards)

- Under Power and Voltages, set:
Maximum Voltage GFX: 1050 mV
[must not be lower than this as the MVDD default value in the vbios is at 1350 mV and the VDD must be within 300 mV range with MVDD or components may get degraded and permanent damaged]
Maximum Voltage SoC: 1050 mV
[must not be lower than this like the Maximum Voltage GFX]
Minimum Voltage GFX: 750 mV
Minimum Voltage SoC: 750 mV
TDP Power Limit GPU: 150 W (140 W for non XT)
TDC Limit GFX: 136 A (126 A for non XT)
TDC Limit SoC: 14 A

- Under Frequency tap, set:
GFX Maximum: 1260 MHz
Memory DPM 3: 900 MHz

[Regarding SoC Maximum, must be kept at default 1267 MHz in the vbios, capping it at another value must be done inside the OS using a script in linux or editing the registry using MorePowerTool in Windows and at your own discretion, recommended values for memory types at specific clocks as below,
Memory Clock - - - > SoC Maximum,
910 (1820) MHz - - - > 957 MHz (Samsung, Micron & Hynix),
950 (1900) MHz - - - > 1093 MHz (Micron & Hynix, here the default 1267 MHz is preferred),
Thank you GREAT

is 910 oder 950 really the limit?
That seems very little to me.

Does the RAM really not give more?
Can you possibly increase the volts of the RAM if so by how much?

Thanks

I dont know what you mean. The reboots are by DEAD GPU, you refer to that? or the amd-info of cards?
I believe the main reason for the dead Gpu is insufficient power,

Please increase the VDD and VDDCI by 10 mV for the cards and test one by one, before that please could you inform what is your power supply model PSU again and your rig specification as well.

I did it to all of them (VDD 800, VDDCI 850), if works fine. I'll test 1 by 1 to optimize. I have Be Quiet Straight Power 11 Platinum (1200W) PSU, I think is enougth for this cards.

Yes, the power supply is good and sufficient, in the end it is a silicone lottery, some cards will work fine with minimum optimization and some cards need further optimization, if you identified the card that causing the problem then if you like you can use the advanced guide on page 15,

By the way, here is a tip, decrease the memory clock of the Corsair Vengenace to 1866 MHz to save a couple of watts.

Hi I not found any one best definitive settings for my cards. I list this forum from page 1-32 but is there too mutch posts.

Can you please someone write best settings for this cards ? Becouse I still have random crash on random card.
I using TRM 0.8.1

GPU 0 = 113-MSITV341MH.5W2 mem = (MT51J256M32HFB) best stability in my rig
GPU 1 = GV-R57XTGAMING OC-8GD/F3/0921 mem = (MT61K256M32)
GPU 2 = GV-R57XTGAMING OC-8GD/F40/0ADE mem = (K4Z80325BC) most unstable card in my rig

Now I using settings from this forum but still its unstable. Where is problem ?

Hmm. I have a watercooled reference 5700 non xt, and lowering mvdd actually helps me achieve higher stable memory clocks.
at 1365 mvdd the driver would crash at 1930 mclk, but at 1330 mvdd it runs perfectly.
Sounds like I need to change the thermal pads on the memory for better ones.

It is obvious as you did not increase the VDDCI, and there are other voltages involved as well,

If you like to run the memory clock at 1930 MHz as your card is water cooled and has Micron memory then you may set the VDDCI at 900 mV and MVDD at 1370 mV,

You may as well run the memory clock at 1950 MHz by setting MVDD at 1385 mV and VDDCI at 910 mV.

@Mini_Me
I have a question about my msi rx 5700 xt gaming x and maybe you have answers. On my rig i have 4 of thos msi s 2 of them are flash able and really stable and the others are unstable if i dont use the stock bios. Can you take a look?
MSI_RX5700XT_Gaming_X is the stock version!
Thanks in adv

Hi @Mini_Me!! After a few of days of stability I'm having sporadic GPU Dead erros and reboots; I will try this but I want to ask you what about MVDD?? I have see that in your suggested OC values you always recommend 1350mv; I'm currently using lower values (1290mv and 1310mv) Do I have to increment this to 1350?? Thanks in advance

Hi, according to Micron GDDR6 datasheet that i saw, memory should be in ~1310 < M < ~1390 (3% margin).
CI, according to VRM datasheet that i saw, must be in 945 with +-100 range, or 845 < CI < 1045, with undefined behavior out of this range.

Hi and welcome,

You are correct, these are the typical, minimum and maximum values that must be set inside the vbios however when in the software there is a headroom for overclocking and undervolting depending on the desired settings,

I believe the concept of the design is like in the example below,

We have a water tank with 2 valves and 2 pipes, 1 valve (VDDCI) and 1 pipe (MVDD) supply the rooms (Memory chips), 1 valve and 1 pipe supply the tank (VPP), the important thing here is to maintain the water pressure in addition to the external air pressure (Vss) that affects it and to decrease the losses in the power of the pumps (here is temperature) which most of it because of friction (resistance) which depends on the silicone finishing, the system components quality, and the company set up in order to prolong the system condition and stability on the long-term, as a result some cards may differ from others, here further optimization (DIY) is needed.

Have you updated the vbios of your MSI to the latest version yet?

Indeed, to maintain the stability of the system when undervolting as the MVDD and VDDCI are automatically scalable by the system however I believe controlling one factor (VDDCI) and fixing the other (MVDD) is the right way as controlling both factors will require a lot of time and effort and may required a change in the other factors (voltages) as well.

You are welcome.

Nice analogy. I thought that these limits should be observed and respected to maintain the board safe in the long run.
Do you think then that there is no lower limits in software, just limited to long term stability by the settings found per card? Is it a safe approach?
