Hi,
I am failing to update Gigabyte 5700 XT. The same procedure updates the BIOS on MSI cards with no problem. I follow the instructions on Igors Lab.

The sign of having trouble with the card bios flash shows in GPU-Z. After flash using amdvbflash the values of GPU and memory frequencies is empty. With stock bios there are Mhz frequencies.

Is there any known problems with flashing Gigabyte cards?
Any suggestions on what other forums I may ask for assistance?
Is it possible that the OEM bios is signed, and any modified bios will be rejected?
If the bios is signed, any tools to resign, or would I need to buy a card from a different vendor?

Thanks,

Alley Cat

Hey J,

I have a test rig with "bad silicone" GPUs which were throwing "Dead GPU" in TRM. The debug log shows that they are not doing GPU recovery on DRM failure. This seems to be kernel not playing nicely.
Bad silicone:

Good silicone:

All have set:

Extra params - _TDP_TDCGFX_TDCSOC (for power sweet spot).

All production GPUs are on B049_M1_F1_AS_R21_135_115_12.rom

Greetings Andy,

Most appreciated for your response!! I agree, the temps ratio is a bit higher than optimal. Thank you for sharing the bios and settings. I will do some additional testing and see how far I can go. I have used Phoenix miner for some time but I have also tested with TRM. I'm going to switch back as the logging it a bit better.

Again, thank you!

thank you very much for the settings. My results are as follows. But as you can see in Riga there is 5700, which I can not flash with any bios. Any ideas? Thanks

First of all thanks for responding! Great numbers you have there!

When applying these settings I also go to these numbers (indeed via TRM 0.8); even a bit less power consumption (on the samsung card, need to check stability though):
Anhang anzeigen 10756

Only thing is; almost pay 0 for electricity (due to solar power) so why not push the card a little bit more... running performance settings (1380, 770/780/1320, 945) will get me 58 over 116w power (hiveos number, not off the wall) and almost the same temp.

Interesting, I just tested that but 1275, 715/750/1320, 945 runs fine at 58mhash, but I get 8-10watt more power consumption and VRAM temps start rising rather quickly. Will try again when I've transfered the card to a rig with more room (preparing for summer) :)

Sorry for the noob question, but - I'm trying to implement the guide on pg 32.

How do I change mvdd (or VDDCI) on windows on my 5700XT? I've flashed everything as suggested, but none of the tools I've tried (amd radeon, afterburner, memorytweak xl, command line/bat with miner) let me adjust mvdd. Can't use hiveos on this rig as I use it during the day for work and like to mine in the background

No need to change the MVDD and VDDCI in windows, they scale automatically with the memory clock, in windows max stable memory clock is 1820 MHz for both Samsung and Micron memory type.

Thanks Mini_Me! Just to make sure, that's still the case even though gpuz shows the memory voltage as staying at 850mv? It'd be neat to actually see it scale up.

I believe it will only scales down, scaling up needs to increase these voltages values in the vbios.
Ah interesting, thank you! Is there a way I could increase those voltages in the vbois via the PPT and MorePowerTools?

I'm getting pretty high mem temps (94-96 C) on my 5700xt powercolor red dragon, so hoping increasing the mvdd might help with that.

At 1820 mhz, it's at an average of 94.9C. Was playing around with higher memory freq, as mine seems pretty stable up to 1870 mhz, at that freq it gets up to 96C. (samsung/micron memory in case that matters)
I believe the 1800 MHz is the best memory clock for mining, you can give it a try in addition to the guide at page 32.

Will there be a revised guide (page 32) based on the new lower core clocks / voltages that can be achieved via Teamredminer >= 0.8? @Mini_Me

TRM has provided a migration guide that specifics existing core settings should be able to drop by 100Mhz and 50mv and a more in depth tuning guide. I don't find the settings they specify very realistic though ("GPUs with good cooling can often drop as low as 700-725mV"), I have at least one of just about every 5700xt on the market and I have yet to get anywhere near this low (with apple straps).

What I do know is that I have has good luck with dropping 100Mhz in core and keeping the same ~55MH.

Good Moning Mini_Me, I have a Gigabyte 5700xt v2 with Samsung memory, I followed your instruction to download v1 bios from Gigabyte website, and I tried to use RBE to change the memory timing but there is only one memory type (Micron) for this bios, no Samsung memory type option, is it seems only Micron memory for Gigabyte 5700xt v1? Is that possible to put the Samsung memory timing strap into this v1 bios?

are you running it with adjustment made as in post 32 (apple straps & power table adjustments)?

Hi I have the Gigabyte Aorus 5700 Xt Rev 2.0 and when i save the bios via amdvbflash 293 or 3.904+ and try and update straps in red bios editor it works fine. I then save the new modified bios and try and flash the bios with this and this goes well too. I have Samsung memory. I reboot the machine and the drivers dont work and i get erro 43 in the driver in devices page on windows 10. I have triied every bios i can find and the only one that will flash ok it the original one i saved. What is going on and what can i do please ???

hi
i have a Gigabyte RX5700xt Gaming OC 8GB (Rev 2.0)
i used all available bios including the one that @Mini_Me suggested but still i got error
the problem is there is no bios for Rev2 in gigabyte website, i even saved the stock bios using unlockram command and try to edit
but still same problem
i appreciate any help or advice @Mini_Me
have a good day
