Question AMD Radeon Pro W5700 for mining ethereum

I am contemplating about buying this card because someone is offering this to me for a cheaper price here where I live. From my understanding, this card is just the "professional" / "workstation" equivalent of RX 5700 XT.



Any thoughts on this card? Has anyone here actually used this for mining? Does anyone know what the hashrate is? Can an unlocked BIOS be flashed on this GPU?

I received the W5500 and it worked out of the box in Win 10 running Adrenalin 21.2.2 drivers using NiceHash with the Phoenix Miner plugin, I am getting an average of 25 MH/s using 85W of GPU power. Attached are screenshots and the stock vbios captured using ATI Flash 2.93 . Can you see if any improvements can be made with an unlocked vbios? Thanks!

curious about the hashrate after the bios mod. on both W5500 and W5700, Is it a big difference? I run HiveOS and i would like my W5700 cards to work with the OC settings.

Use phoenixminer and you can change the settings without a new BIOS.

Thats my setting for 52,2 MH.

i was referring to the W5700 its a pro card and those settings are usually locked.

My advice is to use morepowertool to change parameters without modifying the vbios for W5500 as the mean time unlocking the 5500 series is postponed.

Mini_Me thank you for all your help with the W5700s. I was able to update one of my cards to your vbios above, and everything is great expect for the efficiency of the hashing. Do you have any suggestions for what to edit to fix that? It seems like it's usually a sign of instability with the tuning. The power savings is amazing.

- 1360 MHz, 760 or 770 mV : 880 (1760/2) MHz, 820 mV, 1350 mV, ~54.10 MH/s,
- 1380 MHz, 770 or 780 mV : 900 (1800/2) MHz, 840 mV, 1350 mV, ~55.30 MH/s,

~ Micron,
- 1415 MHz, 790 or 800 mV : 935 (1870/2) MHz, 875 mV, 1350 mV, ~57.10 MH/s,

I would like to be able to test other parameters, specially because the RAM runs too hot at that pace, with auto-fan, I need to increase the fan speed manually, or memory runs at 100º.

The BIOS version is
113-D1880201-105

and I checked, your unlocked BIOS is 102.

Can someone tell me the steps to unlock a BIOS? (on other AMD cards) ...

55.XX MH/s. Core clock, memory clock and underclock voltages are default according to the optimized BIOS shared by Mini_Me. PhoenixMiner manual setting of parameters for under/over-clocking/under-volting are not working. MSI sliders are also disabled.

Currently there are no settings for the Wattman in Windows. Only the fans are adjustable.

I would do the following steps
1) backup the original bios with GPU-Z
2) load the original bios with MPT Tool
3) on the Features page set all hooks (except Auto Undervolt, Overclock and Memory).
MPT File SAVE


4) Start Red Bios Eiditor and load the original Bios.
Load the MPT file with the Powerplay tab.
5) save the BIOS
With this you should have a bios to unlock the cards.

Original BIOS is fully locked. Mini_me send an unlock 102 BIOS version. I posted above BIOS 105, Mini_me will unlock it too, but if you have a newer version, maybe it's best to jump to that version ...

What hash rate and power can your cards do?

I have flashed this version but Wattman is not active in Windows.
When I read this version (105) with MPT there is no check mark.

How can I unlock the bios?

I can upload the original bios file here if you want.

It does about 50 MH/s
But this is still STOCK

I would like to overclock it better so it is important to me it must be all unlocked.
I am aware of the risk.

Are my steps I have listed above correct to unlock an original BIOS? (my post above you)
