Hi,
I am failing to update Gigabyte 5700 XT. The same procedure updates the BIOS on MSI cards with no problem. I follow the instructions on Igors Lab.

The sign of having trouble with the card bios flash shows in GPU-Z. After flash using amdvbflash the values of GPU and memory frequencies is empty. With stock bios there are Mhz frequencies.

Is there any known problems with flashing Gigabyte cards?
Any suggestions on what other forums I may ask for assistance?
Is it possible that the OEM bios is signed, and any modified bios will be rejected?
If the bios is signed, any tools to resign, or would I need to buy a card from a different vendor?

Thanks,

Alley Cat

Hello [USER = 5105] @Mini_Me [/ USER], could you please help me with signature bypass and modify for Aorus Gigabyte rx5700 xt rev 2 (F70)?
Hello and welcome,

Hello everyone,
I have AORUS Radeon™ RX 5700 XT 8G (rev. 2.0) with micron memory, whenever i try to edit the original bios the card gets bricked. I have tried some unlocked bios from the internet, i was able to edit and get the hashrate i need and it seems stable. However, i am getting very high power consumption (139W in hiveos) 1350/750/910mem. with original bios, same settings i get 99W.

Is there anyway to unlock the original bios (attached), so i can get the required hashrate with low power consumption?
Hello and welcome,

Hello,
Thank again for al the help in getting better results!
With some tuning and looking true all the pages here I got it running stable at 58.6mh/s with 118W power.
The only thing not going well are the mem temperatures.. They hit the 102° :-( any advice for that ? Or best to try and solve it with thermal pads ?

Thanks again!!!

You don't have to, MVDD and VDDCI offer a modest reduction in power usage and a very modest reduction in temp.
Also please note, this is in a cold room with windows partially open to create a draft. Come summer, I will need a fan system. In my work room, some fans were up to 90% with memory at 90 degrees.
Also, my 13 card rig is hotter.
Also, wall consumption is higher, which is normal. This doesn't account for the riser power + PSU efficiency.

For the MSI RX 5700 MECH and MSI RX 5700 XT MECH OC,

Are you after stock unlocked rom? If yes, then with use amdvbflash to save your original rom and post here.

Simplified instructions
[Make sure that the GPU is not busy (mining, gaming) and navigate to the directory where your amdvbflash utility is]

MS WIndows in safe mode elevated command prompt as "Administrator":
amdvbflash.exe -i (identify the MSI's adpaters ID, let say identified as "0")
amdvbflash.exe -s 0 msiootb.rom (the file will be created in the same directory)
Linux using shell (bash) as "root" or uid=0,gid=0 user:
./amdvbflash.sh -i (identify the MSI's adpaters ID, let say identified as "0")
./amdvbflash.sh -s 0 msiootb.rom (the file will be created in the same directory)

For the MSI RX 5700 XT MECH OC,

The unlocked and aligned with the "to date settings" rom you can find here:

Kind regards,
Andy

Hi, this thread is a fantastic resource as I have read through it all. I've done successfull modifications to my original BIOS, and also tried @Mini_Me version from december. They both work well, however I am having overheating issues on the memory.

I attach two images.
1. lowest OC settings according to the original guide = 88+ degrees @100% fan (and keeps increasing )
2. lowest OC-settings I've seen suggested in the thread = 84-86 degrees @73-78% fan (stable)

Any advise to lower the temprature? If changing the memory thermal pads is the only option - do you happen to know if it's thickness? 1-2mm?
Thanks in advance!5700xt.jpg5700xt_2.jpg

Hi and welcome,

You can either change the thermal pads or decrease the memory frequency and voltages following the guide at page 32.

Hi all,
I have a Gigabyte RX 5700XT Rev 2.

Looks like only Samsung memory according to RedBiosEditor (K4Z80325BC)
First tried copying straps 1550Mhz down to 2250Mhz (saw off a generic YouTube video) which bricked the card and had to short pins and reflash backup saved beforehand.

Also tried following steps from post 627 on page 32 but card was also bricked.
Attached is original backup ROM file and picture of back of card for reference.
Any ideas?

Hello and welcome,

Regarding your Gigabyte 5700 XT GAMING please use the setting below,

Core clock, VDD : Memory clock, VDDCI, MVDD
1360 MHz, 760 : 880 MHz, 820 mV, 1350 mV,

For your MSI Mech 5700 card with high memory temperature, please put thermal pads at the back of the memory chips between the pcb and the backplate,

Regarding the MSI Gaming 5600 XT,
Have you applied Apple Inc. optimized memory timings straps yet?
